OQHA Annual Picnic held at new headquarters
The Ohio Quarter Horse Association (OQHA) held its annual picnic at the new headquarters Monday evening on Quarter Horse Drive in Columbus, Ohio. Nearly 200 people were in attendance for some home made beef brisket and bratwursts prepared by the OQHA staff as well as many delightful side dishes brought by fellow members. The Ohio Quarter Horse Youth Association (OQHYA), Ohio Amateur Horse Association (OAQHA) and OQHA board members gathered for a picnic style meal and yard games at 6 p.m. followed by the individual monthy board meetings at 7 p.m. Thank you to Kyle Flatter and Matt Claypool for manning the grill throughout the hot night! OQHA mourns the loss of Clint Collingsworth
CLINT Tyler COLLINGSWORTH Clint Tyler Collingsworth, 27, of Wheelersburg passed away Thursday, June 7, 2018 at his residence. Clint was born January 22, 1991 in Portsmouth to Jerry Lee Collingsworth, Jr. and Tami Woosley Collingsworth. Clint was a high school graduate and a self-employed horse trainer. Clint was a lifetime horseman who owned and operated Collingsworth Quarter Horses. He was a former NSBA World Champion and placed in the Top Ten several times at the All American Quarter Horse Congress. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Clayton Woosley. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Alana Brown Collingsworth whom he married December 1, 2012 in Alexander City, AL; his mother

NOQHA Spring Extravaganza comes in Hot!
The NOQHA Spring Extravaganza and Level 1 Novice show was well attended with stalls and RV hook-ups sold out. A pizza party sponsored by OQHA was held on Thursday evening for all exhibitors and an ice cream social sponsored by NOQHA was held on Saturday afternoon for all. The competition was as hot as the weather as this was the last week-end for Youth World in-state qualifying. The temperatures soared into the 90’s for the first time this season. Prizes for all exhibitors placing 1 st – 6 th under all 4 judges were available along with special prizes for the small fry and lead-liners. SOQHA The Madness show concludes

A big shoutout goes out to the Southern Ohio Quarter Horse Association for their dedication and commitment to making the 2018 Madness horse show one to remember. The Madness is a top ten horse show in the nation that is thrown every May, bringing in exhibitors from all over the country. SOQHA Challenge Concludes With 4,700 AQHA Entries Over Two Days!
By: Brittany Bevis, The Equine Chronicle A challenge of sorts was presented to the show management team of the Southern Ohio Quarter Horse Association Challenge. How many entries can one show hold in just two days? The answer may surprise you… The two-day event that took place at the World Equestrian Center in Wilmington, Ohio over the weekend recorded almost 1,200 AQHA entries per judge. With four judges, that added up to nearly 4,700 AQHA entries alone! And that number doesn’t include NSBA entries. Judges for the show were Jeff Mellott, Ryan Kail, Brad Kearns, Curtis Reynolds, John Boxell, Allen Mitchels, TW Grose, and Steve Meadows. One of the highlights of the show each year is the SOQHYA Scholarship Challenge.

Ohio Youth take top honors at Level 1 East Championship
Article by Natalie Hilty The Nutrena East Novice Championship Show was a success! Held here in Wilmington, Ohio at the World Equestrian Center, the entries more than doubled from 2017 to make for a spectacularly large and exciting show. The biggest class of the show was the Novice Youth 14-18 Showmanship with a whopping 115 entries. Because of the huge gain in entries this year in 2018, the Ohio youth have decided to provide you with 11 different perspectives from this show. We had youth from way down south, over in Pennsylvania, New York, and even up north in Canada who chose to show at the Novice Championships in Ohio this year!
