  EOQHA held their annual year end awards banquet on January 12th at the Virtues Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio. Due to the weather we had a smaller event than we have had in past years but would like to thank everyone who was able to attend for making it a great evening. In 2019 EOQHA will be hosting 3 shows again. April 6 & 7 at the Ohio Expo Center in Columbus, April 27 & 28 at the Champions Center in Springfield, and September 6-8 back at the Ohio Expo Center. Due to limited number of stalls available in Springfield we do ask that you get those stalls reserved ASAP, the stall form can be found on the EOQHA website. Also, this year the EOQHA youth will be participating in the Tribute Feed program and will be collecting the

From The American Quarter Horse Association From February in Las Vegas to the tail end of the year in Florida, AQHA members turned out in droves to support shows, circuits and special events across the United States. Combined, the overall Top-10 AQHA shows saw entries totaling 93,992 in 2018. Rankings were calculated by dividing the total number of entries for each event by the event’s total number of show numbers.            “Congratulations to the show management teams behind these top shows. 2019 AQHA Convention Wrap Up

The American Quarter Horse Association held its annual convention to review member-submitted rule changes, appoint new AQHA directors, induct members into the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame and elect the AQHA Executive Committee March 8-11 at the Omni Hotel in Fort Worth, Texas. The five-person Executive Committee is responsible for implementing important decisions made by AQHA members through the board of directors. The 2019-20 AQHA Executive Committee is President Stan Weaver of Big Sandy, Montana; First Vice President F.E. The Challenge Kicked Off the 2019 Season

The Southern Ohio Quarter Horse Association’s first show of the 2019 season is a wrap. The CHALLENGE was a great show. Despite the cold and a few snow flurries, they had record entries. The show offered a flat fee of $180 per horse and was run by An Equine Production. They also provided a Leveled 14-18 Showmanship and Horsemanship class. “We love the Challenge because it’s a great opportunity for the kids to earn some money for a change,” says Ohio Trainer Missy Thyfault. “The kids love picking their best three classes which makes it a little different than the normal High Point awards typically offered. Please note, at NO times, should this replace the AQHA Rule Book. And NEVER feel like you are ‘bothering’ show management with a rule question. AQHA is Coming to Cowtown

Join AQHA in Fort Worth, March 8-11 for the AQHA Convention . During convention, they will review member-submitted rule changes, appoint new AQHA directors, induct new members into the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame and elect the AQHA Executive Committee. There is a lot of business to take care of, but a little fun to be had as well. 2019 OQHA Queen - Alexis Taylor

Alexis is a 22-year-old graduate from Stautzenberger College with a degree in Veterinary Technology. She is currently employed as a Research Technician at Charles River Laboratories, where she plays a part in life saving medical advances daily. Alexis grew up on the back of quarter horses and has been riding since before she could walk, passed from one parent to the next in between western classes. Alexis has two Appendix Quarter horses Ain’t Life Sweet, and Forgot My Coat, who she enjoys showing in the All Around Hunter events. 2018 Awards Banquet In the Books

The 2018 Ohio Quarter Horse Awards Banquet held on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at the Hilton Downtown Columbus was bigger than ever!  The banquet room was packed with more than 460 in attendance and awards presented to the 2018 OQHA award winners. OQHA Director and co-host for the night, Justin Billings, kicked off the night by inviting the 2018 Congress Queen, Taylor Foster, to lead the attendees in an invocation before dinner. The 2018 OQHA President, Chris Cecil Darnell followed the three course meal by reflecting on her year in office and presenting Valerie Sturgeon an appreciation award for her years of service as the OQHYA Advisor. She also presented Kyle Flatter and Candi Fites with President’s Awards.
